So lets jump to what to expect when you are expecting and how to handle those petty symptoms.
1. Missed Period:
Well, there is no sign of your periods yet and this can point you to the very first affirmation of your pregnancy. A “period” is nothing but what we call a menstrual cycle in which the uterus lining sheds which causes the bleeding. When you are expecting yourself to be pregnant, but before you assume anything further, do know that missed period can also point other health issues which we will be knowing about in our other posts so you need to rule out that possibility by taking a home pregnancy test.
Tips to care:
The very first thing when you have missed your period is not to panic. You need to head straight to your obstetrician and find out what’s cooking in there through some routine tests.
Never try out some stupid diy’s to determine your pregnancy at home. You have got healthcare center for that. And if not properly taken care, you might hurt yourself in any unknown manner possible.
2. Fatigue:
If you are all the way up till here, this feeling of constant tiredness and dullness physically or mentally, which you can experience in an early pregnancy is known as fatigue. It usually is accompanied by insomnia, morning sickness, boredom, stress or anxiety etc., and the list goes on. Fatigue is the most common pregnancy symptom either during the early or even in the late trimester.
Tips to care:
Fatigue can be difficult to fight in pregnancy, especially for the first time mums. Since the emotional, mental and physical changes are totally new to cope with, the one thing you would not want is tiredness.
So keep yourself fueling up at all times, even though you might not want to eat. There is always a plus side too!!! Follow your cravings, of course keeping the right nutrition for you in mind.
Stay hydrated at all times. Like always. If not water, try to get fresh juices. Any of your favorite fruits and let it blend into a glass of healthy slurps and sips.
Take rest whenever you feel like or need to. If you are already a parent, you know the drill lady! Save your work for later and just lie down alongside your sleepy kids:)
3. Engorged breasts:
Yes, you read that right. Engorged breasts means a feeling of soreness/fullness or sensitive to touch breasts. If you think engorged breasts are just because newbie mothers do not get to have a feeding routines with their baby, then you are totally wrong. Early pregnancy symptoms also include engorged breasts due to sudden changes/increase in the hormones.
Tips to care:
You are already dealing with a lot. So just untie your bra and wear light clothes. The one which you are more comfortable in. Looks does not apply anywhere in pregnancy dear!
4. Nausea:
Nausea or morning sickness is yet another early signs that you might be pregnant. Apart from the name suggesting morning sickness, one can experience it during the day or night time also. Though the exact reason for nausea cannot be determined, do we have any other thing to blame than the hormones??? Nausea can be an early symptom of pregnancy, but in some cases it only becomes more intense towards the next trimesters or else totally subsides with others.
Tips to care:
Do not skip your food for no reason. Always keep some cookies or crackers or even toasts or whatever you like handy. By your bedside. Like real handy. Have one or two before getting up from your bed. This can be easier to fade away any dizziness if you are experiencing.
Citrus, lemons, Mint or even fennel seeds are a good friends for the ones who are more prone to nausea. DO check with your dietician before trying out anything new or which might not be suitable to you.
5. Frequent urination:
As our blood pressure rises during the pregnancy, more blood is pumped to the organs. This affects the straining of fluids in our kidneys which results in frequent visits to the loo. The growing uterus also pressurizes the bladder for the constant urge of urination.
Tips to care:
Many of us find it harder to have those visits to the restroom, but never ever be lazy enough to hold that thing up. As you might increase your chance of UTI’s( Urinary tract infections).
Drink a lot of fluids to stay hydrated and flush out the toxins whenever you feel like to.
In some cases, to save yourself from the embarrassing leakage you can use pantyliners and always have them handy or carry them in your handbags!
6. Mood swings:
As literal it sounds, women are so not-new to mood swings!! You know right?? With those PMS, mood swings are always around the corner for us. But when it comes to pregnancy, who knew us women had to deal with those unreasonable crying, unexplained laughter, a whole lot of anger, forgetfulness, untimely hunger, God knows regret of whatsoever for a bunch of months!!!! Yes, not only they can be your early pregnancy symptoms but mood swings can last for the whole pregnancy term.
Tips to care:
Well, mood swings can be pretty easy to deal with. Like eat whatever you desire, read a book, catch up a hobby or two, own a cute little furry pet, fill out a canvas let your mind out and on and on.
Either way, you are the one to take care of yourself in any way at the end of the day. So stay strong mommas!! Cute little storms are on your way 😉
